Before an Attack

Stay Alert

Stay aware of your surroundings and the people around you. Make mental notes of any potential dangers and watch for warning signs like increased anger.

DURING AN ATTACK

  • RUN AND HIDE. Get away from the attacker as soon as possible and seek shelter. Call 9-1-1 only when you are safe.

  • COVER AND HIDE. If you cannot safely run, find a place to hide immediately. Block doors and close window coverings. Stay quiet.

  • DEFEND, DISRUPT, FIGHT. Fight only as a last resort.

  • HELP OTHERS. Take care of yourself first, then help others move to safety or hide.

After an Attack

Listen to Authorities

Follow instructions from local officials and authorities. This will help ensure your safety until the threat is contained.

Remain Calm

Keep your hands visible and empty. Go immediately to designated safe areas to get help and provide information about the attack.

Inform Emergency Contacts

Let your emergency contacts know once you are safely evacuated. Consider texting and conserving battery power for emergency phone calls.
